Klaus Iohannis, the President of Romania, made a press statement on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, about the war in Ukraine and Romania’s involvement: „There is no direct threat to Romania, but the military is preparing for all possible situations.”

The President also added that a decision regarding the provision of a Patriot missile battery to Ukraine will be made by the Supreme Council of National Defense, and he emphasized that he does not accept Romania being left without an anti-missile defense system.

„Romania is a safe country, Romanians do not need to be afraid. There is no need to panic or to believe that Romania is threatened. I have no indication that there is a danger of attacks. Romania will not send soldiers to Ukraine,” declared President Klaus Iohannis.
